Today's post is short and sweet. I am sharing my quick guide to get you started with incorporating technology in your classroom or courses today. Here is a step-by-step process of what you'll need to get off and running.
1. Familiarize yourself with technology standards and competencies for students as well as educators. Moreover, take some time to discover free technology resources and professional development for educators. Here is the big (my favorites) list:
*I live in Maryland so these are for my fellow Maryland educators.
**Outdated but still useful.
Free PD and Resources:
2. Read about Universal Design for Learning and it's implications for differentiation in the classroom using technology.
3. Consider developing a unit plan or outline with embedded technology activities that encompasses what you've learned about the tech standards and UDL as well as Bloom's Taxonomy and Gardner's Multiple Intelligences.
Bloom's Taxonomy
Gardner's Multiple Intelligences
4. Plan formative assessment activities using technology. Formative assessments are ongoing, repetitive measures designed to provide information to both the instructor and students concerning students' understanding of small segments of course material. Here are some examples:
Exit tickets-Microsoft Forms, Flipgrid, Linoit, Microsoft Whiteboard
Thinking maps-https://bubbl.us/ , https://www.popplet.com/
BCR-OneNote
Personal reflections-Flipgrid, buncee.com, OneNote, Teams
5. Plan your summative assessment activities using technology tools. Summative assessments measures what students should have learned at the end of a particular unit/course of study. Here are sample activities:
Poster-Canva
Graph-Excel, Debate Graph
Narrative-Storybird
Music-Soundcloud, Garageband
6. Reflect and replan.
7. Have fun!!!
